Them’s Some Big Clouds

Enjoying beautiful Kelowna, BC for a company meeting.  Equally beautiful weather yesterday as I wandered around the downtown lakefront area.  The clouds heading towards us over the mountains threatened to put an end to that right quick.

However, the topology of the region is kind of unique.  The updrafts coming off the hillsides actually blow those clouds back in on themselves.  You can almost see them folding over as they’re held at bay.  I would bet an extreme long exposure shot would capture that movement.  I wasn’t equipped for such a thing, but did shoot with the intent of converting to black and white to exaggerate the texture and movement.

They never had a chance.  Sunshine prevailed throughout most of the afternoon.
