Clearing off e-mail and came across this which I sent to myself for post-processing while in Saint John. We were just heading in to a fine local establishment late in the afternoon and I stopped in front of this great looking old building. Low, hard light brought out the texture of the brick and the shadows added to the graphic presentation.
Fortunately my iPhone is always handy.
Usually I’ll process iPhone photos on the phone itself, but for this I had some geometric distortion to take care of and Adobe Lightroom’s new lens correction features work amazingly well to square things off. Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 finished the black and white treatment.

Back from Saint John after a long week. Trips like this – multiple flights, couple hour timezone difference, business conference – tend to suck the life out of you. Not much breathing room, which is why taking the opportunity to wander and shoot is such a nice break from the action. Particularly when the weather finally breaks the sun delivers such much needed energy. I’m a prairie boy – don’t do well with incessant cloud and rain.

So I check into a little boutique hotel. Little room. Little space between the adjacent building.
Hence this view:

Vancouver is a crazy beautiful town when the sun is shining. Was in need of air at the end of the day and so shuffled off from my hotel down to Robson Street. Interesting mix of people. Even more interesting mix of light. Late afternoon, hard, all sorts of contrast.
Love it.
Just walked, looked, on occasion waited, and shot.
