Mexican Blues… And Yellows

Photographically speaking I’m a sucker for a) color contrasts, b) interesting graphic forms, and c) negative space. If one or more of these fall into my line of sight I’ll generally stop and shoot or curse myself for not having a camera handy. Such was the case with the latter while exploring the beautiful RIU Santa Fe in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Two For One Resorts
RIU Palace Los Cabos and had the good fortune of enjoying access to both sites. The Santa Fe presented a much different vibe and architecture. Yellow stucco and rounded clay-like shapes in the “pueblo style” (pardon my lack of architectural knowledge for a proper term) always look great. And even moreso when set against deep blue skies. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera handy so returned afterwards to make some shots.
Color and Form
These are purely abstract, have no story element, no real purpose other than showing off graphic lines and the classic complement of blue and yellow. And to me they look really cool. I have nothing to add for each individual frame so I’ll just plunk them all into a gallery.
Bonus Round
The resort wasn’t the only place to find my yellows and blues. En route to downtown Cabo on the beach the usual pull of color and space grabbed me. And seeing this fellow approaching with his collection of hats for sale had me scrambling to compose the shot, check my exposure, and wait until he entered my frame. Ended up being one of my favorites from the trip and personal all time.
