I’m going to continue to milk this Italian cow in an effort to update my blog. Still dealing with the volume of photos from our long-past vacation. Still dealing with lack of motivation time to do so. But I wanted to share some of my favorite people shots from Italy as we made our way through Venice, Florence, Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, and Rome. Caveat is that there is a distinction between photos of people representing Italy vs. photos of people that happened to be shot while in Italy. Seeing as how I’m not on assignment for Nat Geo or Conde Naste I get to be judge and jury here, but I would hesitate to call many of these “travel” photos per se.

Better late than never.
Volume 2 of these brief stops along the Italian Planes Trains & Automobiles Tour comes on the eve of our leaving yet another destination (more to come). It’s difficult to find the time to manage the volumes of photos while also enjoying all that this wonderful country has to offer and avoid neglecting my family. And in the heart of Italian wine country there are bigger fish to fry, but I digress.

Round Two for the week. Wanted to share some images of the good folks of Costa Rica, also known as Ticos. They were a warm bunch, open, and revelled in their philosophy of Pura Vida or “pure life”. Enjoy what you can when you can.
The town of Tamarindo where we started our trip (actually, we were just a short walk from town at the very cool Hotel Capitan Suizo) is a funky surfing village. Rustic and rambling, lots of fun. Cool shops and bars and restaurants. Like anywhere, there are people putting in a hard day’s work or just going about their business.

Vancouver is a crazy beautiful town when the sun is shining. Was in need of air at the end of the day and so shuffled off from my hotel down to Robson Street. Interesting mix of people. Even more interesting mix of light. Late afternoon, hard, all sorts of contrast.
Love it.
Just walked, looked, on occasion waited, and shot.

All you have to do is look.
After you shoot for a while light can quickly become an obsession. The completely mundane can look amazing when the light is just so. Sitting on the plane this morning yielded one such opportunity.
